My Favorite Movie is Books

Well, hello there! Remember when I used to have a blog? For which I actually wrote posts and everything? Good times.

Life has been chugging along at its typical pace. Work is busy, but no more so than usual. Everyone in the family is healthy. No relationships in crisis or major events looming on the horizon. My days are very full, but that has always been true. Post topics spring to mind every day. Nothing obvious, in other words, to explain why I have not been writing.

It’s kick in the pants time! Conversations are always more fun, anyhow. Ask me anything. The floor is open for questions.

Here is a question from me to you: What is a favorite movie of yours? Recent or old, doesn’t matter. My Netflix queue is rather sparse and bedraggled.

* A big gold BFF star to anyone who gets the post title reference.

I'm a big fan of Cary Grant romantic tear jerking comedies. Something about the comedy of that time that just kills me. Faves would be An Affair to Remember, Penny Serenade, Charade, His Girl Friday, and Holiday. And I guess I get that lovely gold star because I also love Parks and Rec!

Hey there, Stranger! I've missed you.

Question for you (that I've been dying to ask, but felt it was inappropriately intrusive...Now since you've opened the door...): what are your current thoughts on expanding your family? I have lots of follow up questions, but I'll just leave it at that for now.

Answer from me: I can never remember much about movies, so I'm not a good source for recommendations. Some that I can recall seeing on Netflix and enjoying? Once; Babies; Syriana; Lars and the Real Girl; Catch Me If You Can; oh...and if you're willing to consider television, we're making our way through MadMen.

I'm going to skip over the asking you a question portion (although I wish I could think of one) and instead give you a list of some of my favorite movies (some more well known, others more obscure perhaps).
Usual Suspects
Gattaca
Slumdog Millionaire
Dogma
Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human
Dancer, Texas
Adam
The Crow

Oh and in the TV thing, if you are willing to watch a TV show, definitely one of the best is the Wire.

Hold on, before I comment I need to get in my go-go machine and get some Chicky catch.

You posted a blog aaaages ago about Marian (I think, my memory is a little fuzzy) and her first mom coming to visit. Are you ever going to post Part 2?

I agree with racilous re: The Wire. I have the whole series on DVD if you ever want to borrow it. Beware, though, that you really, really, really don't want your kids overhearing the dialogue.

I'll have to think about what movies I'd recommend, then I'll post a massive response.

My second-favorite movie is 3 Iron--it is very sweet and sad, and almost no one I know likes it, but there you go. If you haven't seen My Neighbor Totoro, it is tied for best children's movie I know.

I just posted my first blog entry in 500 years, so I hear where you're coming from. Just popping in to say hi, so hi. Happily, I'll be able to say that in person sooner than we know. Hooray!
