100

Blogger tells me this is my 100th post. Whoo! It's actually number 101, but I took one down that made me feel small. If I were a television show I would be ready for syndication.

To celebrate, I thought I would open the floor for questions. Like a group interview!

Often I'll read someone's blog and want to ask them a question. But it seems too personal. Or too frivolous. Or too off-topic. Or I figure I'm just a lurker so I shouldn't ask. So here's your chance--I'm asking you to ask me!

If we were at a seminar, this is when I'd hand out index cards and tiny pencils and you'd pass your questions to the front.

So, is there anything you would like to know?

I don't have any questions right now, but I want to say how glad I am that you write this blog. Sometimes I want to write more about our adoption situation, but too many real-life people know my URL! Reading your blog makes me reflect on our situation, though, and I think it's a good thing.

Best wishes to you and your family.

Thanks, Clementine! I have a bit of the opposite problem--I'm often tempted to share the URL with people I know. But then I think I'd lose that freedom to write freely that you mentioned.

Since you didn't ask a question, I will offer an unsolicited factoid. I went through a phase of naming my diaries in my teens and somewhere around 1990 I had one named Clementine.

Okay, dahling...

3 questions to get you started :)

1. What are your 3 favorite current television shows?

2. Describe your hairstyle circa 1989. (or better yet, post a pic!)

3. Which would you rather...margarita while on the beach or hot cocoa in the mountains?

Thanks for indulging.

1. What are your 3 favorite current television shows?

Sadly, one of my favorites (Veronica Mars) was cancelled. For the new season, I'm most looking forward to Friday Night Lights, How I Met Your Mother, and 30 Rock. I also watch PBS, I swear! And read books!

No, television is--as they say--my teacher, mother, and secret lover. I came out of the closet about that long ago.

2. Describe your hairstyle circa 1989. (or better yet, post a pic!)

The year I entered the world of big bangs can only be done justice by a photo. I will raid my parents house and return with the spoils.

3. Which would you rather...margarita while on the beach or hot cocoa in the mountains?

Hot cocoa with marshmallows in the mountains. I hate being hot. And having sand all over me. Blech.

Now a margarita on the deck of a sailboat--that would be a whole 'nother story.

Hey, Heather :)

I was wondering if you could recommend any other good open, domestic adoption blogs that you've stumbled across?

Not that yours isn't great, but it would be fun to see other people writing about their own situations, too :)

Thanks!
Lisa

Lisa--I have a longer reply to your question, but I keep not having time to write it out. Yikes.

In the meantime, look over in the white sidebar. Under first/birth parents, most of the first moms listed are in open adoptions. Under adoptive moms, This Woman's Work, Seriously?, Letters to a Birthmother and now Peter's Cross Station are in open adoptions. http://vindauga.typepad.com and http://mamagigi.wordpress.com are two other nice ones.
