What a nice lady... It is so good to feel welcomed at church, and this woman also showed her love and support. Our daughter is biracial (latin-asian) and we still visit the same church we've been attending for years, and everyone has been very supportive. We feel right at home...

That is such a sweet sweet story. Very gracious of that woman and she just gets it, i wish many others would too. Such a nice story, you should send an op-ed to your local newspaper about it, stories like these are so needed intodays cRaZy world of ours!

Oh I wanted to say that hearing other people chew totallllly bugs me too! One of my worst pet peeves ever man!

I'm glad you've found 2 places of worship where you feel comfortable. So often it's hard to find even one church that works for you (hi, that's my situation right now). What a blessing.

I have been struggling with this because our synagogue has several adoptive families, several transracial adoptees and just a couple of not-white families. We definitely identify as an interfaith family with an emphasis on our JEWISHNESS but I am not happy with Madison's opportunities for community. I have been thinking on this a lot lately because Madison is the only non-white kid at her grade level (she wouldn't have been at Noah's). Argh.

We definitely felt that way when we started attending our local Chinese church. But you're right - it's true, so we need to own it. And how else can we do the things we need to do as adoptive parents? We have found it challenging to juggle attending both churches, especially since the Chinese church is quite a drive, but we continue to plug away.
